That headline might be the most tortured analogy I've ever concocted.
But, yes...Big D Hockey is back. In a way. It's been 12 years since the site was last updated...maybe 13 - I don't have the site to refer to any longer, but I
did still have access to the old blogger site. After 15 years employed at Apple, I find myself looking for work again, and writing is where I've always been drawn. What better excuse to get the site going again?
So, first, as you may recall, the Big D Hockey site ended because my son was diagnosed with Leukemia, and he needed his family with him during that time. The wonderful news is that my son has been cancer-free for about 12 years now, and he finished treatment about 10 years ago. He's a healthy, happy teenager now, and we are thrilled that painful chapter of our lives is closed. When we finished treatment, I thought often about starting the site again. I've never waned in my enthusiasm for hockey, and I've followed each season closely. There were many, many times I found myself wishing I had the site so that I could share my thoughts about a particular game, etc. But, it was just to difficult to start.
I found the strength today, and I hope you'll forgive both the informal reintroduction as well as the rusty writing, but I'm confident I'll find my stride in no time. And it's not often you'll come across these "admin" type messages anyway - I'll be a lot more on brand and ready to go when I return to topic.
